Bay State Baseball Tournament of Champions - 2017

Bay State Baseball is a competitive summer baseball league comprised of players from each town playing against each other in an extended tournament. The schedule runs from the end of June through mid-August, depending on each team’s success. Games are played on 2-3 week nights and on Saturday and Sunday, which results in up to 4 games per week depending on the age group (see below). CCYB typically fields one team within the 9 year old, 10 year old, 11 year old, and 12 year old age groups. Although coaches try to accommodate all players, due to the competitive nature of the league all kids do not receive the same amount of playing time. The amount of playing time each player receives is solely at the discretion of the coaches.

All potential Bay State players will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1)  Open tryout
2)  Observation from spring games and/or previous seasons

3)  Coach recommendation
4)  Private tryout

In general, we hold an open try-out where all players can be properly evaluated as a group. As part of this we make it clear the level of commitment the program takes and that boys do not receive an equal amount of playing time.

CCYB will adhere to the Bay State eligibility rules for players.  Rules for the Bay State league, including rules for eligibility, can be found at
www.baystatebaseball.com. Players are expected to play within their age group and not their grade. If a player exhibits advanced skills for his/her age group, they may be given the opportunity to “play up” to the next age group, either as a regular player or alternate. To be considered as a regular for the higher age group, they must be evaluated to be one of the top three players in the upper age group.

For the 12 year old division, the player’s eligibility is based upon his/her age as of April 30, 2017. For the 9, 10, and 11 year old division, a player’s eligibility is based upon his/her age as of August 31, 2017. Players who turn 9 after August 31, 2017 are not eliglble for Bay State this year.

In the end, we are looking to field a competitive team with boys that are good ballplayers, are competitive, who are coachable, who will make good teammates and who can firmly commit to the season.

Roster Eligibility:

Due to Bay State eligibility requirements, our Bay State teams are open only to players who live in Concord or Carlisle, or played CCYB/S baseball in the spring season.

2017 Schedule (subject to change by Bay State):

The 9 and 10 year old divisions will play on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The 11 and 12 year old divisions will play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Bay State season is scheduled to start on Tuesday, June 27.  The regular season ends August 3, and playoffs conclude by August 13.
