Rebels 2019
by posted 07/13/2018

Dear CCYB Families,

Although we have just begun our summer baseball season, we need to start planning for next years Spring Rebels Teams.  For those not familiar with the Rebels, it is a program similar to private club organizations, that CCYB runs in conjunction with Route 2 Athletics.  We have fielded teams on various age levels, 9u (3rd grade), 10u (4th grade), 11u (5th grade), 12u (6th grade), 13u (7th grade) and 14u (8th grade) over the past three years.  Details on each team is located below.

  • 9u and 10u-  Practice indoors once a week on a consistent day and time from January to late March.  Practice in season, once a week for 90 minutes at a CCYB field.  Participate in one 6 inning game (mostly Saturdays) against other town travel programs such as Belmont and Winchester at either Concord or the opponents field.  Games are played in April, May and early June.  Gear such as uniforms jersey, pants, hats, socks, belts and bags are included.
  • 11u and 12u-  Practice indoors once a week on a consistent day and time from January to late March.  Practice in season, once a week for 90 minutes at a CCYB field.  Participate in two 6 inning games (one double header typically on Saturday’s)  against teams in the New England Elite Baseball League.  Most games are in Concord, but there is some travel required for away games.  Games are played in April, May and early June.  Gear such as uniforms jersey, pants, hats, socks, belts and bags are included.
  • Practice indoors once a week on a consistent day and time from January to late March.  Practice in season, twice a week for 90 minutes (one day at a  CCYB field and one day at Route 2 Athletics). Participate in two 7 inning games (one double header typically on Saturday’s)  against teams in the New England Elite Baseball League.  Most games are in Concord, but there is some travel required for away games.  Games are played in April, May and into the third week of June.  Gear such as uniforms jersey, pants, hats, socks, belts and bags are included.
Cost per player is expected to be between 1300 and 2250 depending on the age and offering.

If interested please email Phil Gibson, CCYB Rebels Liaison at   no later than 7/20/18.  Please include your sons name and age/grade for next baseball season.  Once we have received responses, we will decide, which teams we will field next year and send out information regarding tryouts.  Please note that this program is provided to allow baseball players the chance to practice and play more.  We hope that most families, who participate in Rebels will also play for one of the CCYB Town programs.  In addition, we understand that families have numerous commitments, but to participate in the Rebels program the expectation is that baseball is a players number one sport in the Spring.  Please consider these factors.

In closing, families who had a child who participated in Rebels are strongly encouraged to send feed back to Phil (positive and negative) asap.  All feedback will remain confidential and help improve the Rebels program.

Honor an athlete, a team, or a coach!
by posted 04/25/2017

The three major phases of CC at Play’s fields renovation project at CCHS are complete and CCYB/S is better off for it!  The renovation of the softball and baseball fields, and the addition of hitting tunnels and bullpens, will benefit our players for years to come.  The addition of ADA accessible pathways to all the fields will benefit fans of all ages.  We are proud to say that CCYB/S (in partnership with the other youth sports organizations) made a contribution to help fund the project.

This summer, CC at Play will put finishing touches onto the project.  They plan to build a maintenance building, add wayfinding signage, and install landscaping at the entrances.  To fund this final phase of work, they are selling engraved bricks that will pave the area around the new flagpole in the stadium.  These bricks are a great way to honor a graduate, celebrate a team, thank a coach or teacher, or celebrate an alum.  Bricks can be purchased at www.CCatPlay.org.  Create a memory to mark your place at CC!
